We should be proud that India is the second largest in production of peanuts. Peanut is used to make peanut butter, oil, candy. It is also used in curries as flavoring agent.

Boiled peanuts or groundnuts are sold hot in streets, beaches as a healthy snack. Some sell it with shells and some without shells. But peanuts boiled with shells have more nutrients and hygienic to eat.

Harvested raw peanuts are available in the market during the season. It can be easily boiled at home. It is a really a fun to break each peanut shell and eat in the company of your friends or family.

Peanut is called as Verkadalai or Nilakadalai in Tamil and as Moongphali or Singdhana in Hindi.

Ingredients

  • Raw peanuts with shell – 3 cups
  • Salt – as per taste

Method

  • Soak and wash peanuts.

  • Boil it with salt for 8 to 10 minutes; I did it in a pressure cooker.

  • Here are boiled peanuts after removing the shells.
