Coconut_chutney_1 Coconut chutney is a common dish in south India to serve along with Idly, Dosa and can be prepared at short notice.

Serves: Six

Cooking time: approximately 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Coconut – half shell
  • Fried Chana (chutney dal) – 1/4 cup
  • Green chilli – 4 no
  • Asafetida (hing) – pinch
  • Salt – as per taste
  • For seasoning
    • Urad dal (split black gram) – 1/2 tea spoon
    • Mustard – 1/2 tea spoon
    • Red chilli – 1 no (optional)
    • curry leaves – few

Method

  • Chop coconut,green chilli.
  • Grind together fried chana,chopped coconut,green chilli,salt,asafetida to a paste by adding water little by little to make it thick or thin as per choice.
  • Give seasoning.

Serve with Idly, Dosa, Adai.

Tips:

  • Few drops of lemon juice may be added to make it more tasty.
