Coconut chutney is a common dish in south India to serve along with Idly, Dosa and can be prepared at short notice.

Cooking time: approximately 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Coconut – half shell
- Fried Chana (chutney dal) – 1/4 cup
- Green chilli – 4 no
- Asafetida (hing) – pinch
- Salt – as per taste
- For seasoning
- Urad dal (split black gram) – 1/2 tea spoon
- Mustard – 1/2 tea spoon
- Red chilli – 1 no (optional)
- curry leaves – few
Method
- Chop coconut,green chilli.
- Grind together fried chana,chopped coconut,green chilli,salt,asafetida to a paste by adding water little by little to make it thick or thin as per choice.
- Give seasoning.
Tips:
- Few drops of lemon juice may be added to make it more tasty.
