On March 25, I pointed out that Tamil magazines Mangayar Malar and Snegithi (of Manjula Ramesh) have published photographs from my blog without my permission. As it is a copyright violation, I registered my complaint to the Editor of Mangayar Malar, through their website. I could not take up with the editor of Snegithi as the magazine is not having a website.
Here is my complaint to Mangayar Malar on March 25, that was acknowledged.
Now Mangayar Malar, April 2010 issue is already in circulation. I found that Mangayar Malar has not stopped the practice of publishing my blog photograph without my permission.
Here are the details:
Page 62 of Mangayar Malar, April 2010 issue. (Even the watermark in my photograph is erased)
A closer view of the magazine and my dish Medhu Vadai: Indian Savoury Doughnut.
Now instead of looking into my complaint dated March 25, Mangayar Malar continues with their copyright violation. When Mangayar Malar will stop this practice of unethical journalism ?
Update: April 01
Here is the e-mail that I have sent to Mangayar Malar on March 30 (to the e-mail id given in their magazine). Now more than 48 hours have passed and no reply has come. I want to bring out to the readers that communication channels given by Mangayar Malar either in their website or in their magazine really don’t work.
Next step available is to make a phone call to Mangayar Malar (How good is going to be the response is not known). I think it is too early to make a phone call and talk to them on this.
Here is the copy of the e-mail, sent to Mangayar Malar.

Really makes me angry…hope they will stop soon..
I wish we could file a DMCA but sadly it does not cover the Indian print media.
That is really bad. Hope it is resolved very soon and they know their mistake.
u should seriously take some action,…they have just taken you for granted, just call them up if you find their number and make everything clear…..hope they accept their mistake and do apologize to you
outrageous…how can they print more copies…this one looks like a auto reply type..i dont think the email was read by anybody human yet….
Oh my god this is very bad.. U can call them and make clear. Ask them to give credit for u by publishing ur site in their magazine.
Please do take this issue seriously and make them apologize to you for their wrong deed.
Kamala, I am surprised to read that reputed magazines can behave so unethically. Trendsetters may be quite right that your reply is not read by any staff yet so they continued copying your work without any fear.
Is it not possible to make a direct phone call and clear out the matter?
Also once they respond make sure you are honored with all due credit not just through email but in the next issue of magazine by giving your work proper space with recognition.

Thanks for your response and guidance. I want to inform the readers that how bad are the communication channels of ‘Mangayar Malar’ to sort out any disputes with them.
Dear Mam,
I suggest that you mail the issue to NDTV-HINDU (Riyer@ndtv.com and HinduFeedBack@ndtv.com). Or any other Newspaper.
Sometimes, we need to sensationalize the issue to get a resoultion.
Your work is amazing and anyone trying to misuse your effort should be penalized.
Thanx
Ramesh
I had similar issues with aval vikatan. They posted pics from my blog as well as another friends’ blog. When I pointed out, they promptly said sorry and also gave photo credits in the next issue -
@ Revathi
‘Mangayar Malar’ don’t have the courtesy to acknowledge their mistake. Thanks for your response.
