Ginger is a wonderful spice that gives flavor to the dish and also helps digestion. Sweet sour chutney with ginger flavor is easy to prepare and goes well with all snacks.
Ginger is known as Inji in Tamil and as Adarak in Hindi.
Ingredients
- Chopped ginger pieces – 2 to 3 table spoon
- Bengal gram – 2 table spoon
- Urad dal – 2 table spoon
- Coriander seed – 1 table spoon
- Cumin seed – 1 tea spoon
- Jaggery chopped – 3 table spoon
- Red chilli – 6 no
- Tamarind – marble size
- Salt – as per taste
- Oil – 1 tea spoon
- For seasoning
- Mustard –½ tea spoon
- Urad dal – ½ tea spoon
- Curry leaves – few
- Oil – 1 tea spoon
Method
- Heat a pan with 1 tea spoon of oil; add Bengal gram, urad dal, red chilli, coriander seed, cumin seed; fry till grams are golden in colour; add ginger and fry for few more minutes.
- Cool and grind with salt, tamarind and jaggery.
- Do the seasoning with mustard, urad dal and curry leaves with remaining oil; mix with chutney.
- Serve with any snack.
Tips
- The given quantity of ingredients give moderate sweet sour taste. You may vary the quantity as per your taste.
